SKGF Attorneys Deliver Presentation on Reexamination and Concurrent Patent Litigation at The University of Maryland School of Law
April 19th, 2010
On April 6th, Rob Sterne and Lori Gordon presented “Reexamination & Concurrent Patent Litigation in the District Courts and USITC: The Parallel Universe of Enforcement of the Same Patent” at The University of Maryland School of Law. Rob Sterne and Lori Gordon, co-authors of the definitive article on reexamination and concurrent litigation practice published by The Sedona Conference Journal, presented a side by side comparison of Ex Parte and Inter Partes Reexaminations in the context of concurrent patent litigation.
The two hour long presentation was divided into two parts. The first half of the program focused on the topic of patent reexamination and concurrent patent litigation strategies. The second half zeroed in on alternative career paths and how students can stand out in the recruiting process during a down economy.
When asked about returning to his Alma Mater (The University of Maryland School of Law ’77), Mr. Sterne commented, “it was touching and special to be back at the Law School. It was a real honor to have the opportunity to speak on such a hot topic as reexaminations to a classroom of such bright students. What a smart group of students and what a fantastic law school! Made me feel so proud to see the school carrying on the tradition of turning out quality attorneys!”
The presentation was facilitated by Benjamin Huh (Co-President) and Bruce Villard (Treasurer) of the Law School of Maryland Intellectual Property Student Association (MIPSA) in conjunction with Patricia Campbell, Associate Professor and Director, Maryland Intellectual Property Legal Resource Center.
